Folk heritage collections in crisis

En décembre 2000, le centre américain du folklore (American Folklife Center) et la société du folklore américain (the American Folklore Society) ont réuni une centaine d'experts pour discuter de l'accès, de la conservation et des droits de diffusion liés aux collections sonores et audiovisuelles du domaine ethnographique et folklorique. Le titre des journées était : " Folk Heritage Collections in Crisis". Folkloristes, conservateurs, juristes, spécialistes multimédias ont ainsi essayé pendant deux jours de produire des plans d'action et des guides pour aider tous ceux qui travaillent dans le domaine des archives de terrain audiovisuelles. Le symposium a été soutenu par le :

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)

le National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)

le Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR)

le Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)

et le GRAMMY Foundation.

Parmi les articles du séminaire, on peut noter en particulier celui d'Anthony Seeger de l'Université de Californie à Los Angeles sur le thème "Intellectual Property and Audiovisual Archives and Collections".
